It was from a Heidi Grant Halvorson discussion of social science that showed that when people say or write what they will do, when they will do it, and where they will do it, their probability of doing it soars.

According to an article in today's New York Times, the Obama campaign was heavily influenced by social scientists who used a number of strategies, one of which was precisely this.
