Write everything in one place (notes, to dos, waiting for items) and review that one place often.
Once I discovered this one rule gave me 80% of the productivity of anything and everything I tried before I stopped looking for time management advice which further improved my productivity.

A couple of months before my father died, he said something similar. Unfortunately, he was never able to put this advice into practice.

Separate the planning from the doing.
In other words, devote a time, maybe a morning a week, to planning carefully the coming days. Then just execute the result without distracting yourself by second guessing the plan.
