Yep, that's me some weeks. Except for the almost-done point. My monkey is strongest then. "Great job! All the important stuff is done, all the rest is just tidying up, which you can knock off when you need a break from something else."

It all seems a rather long-winded way of saying what is summed up in the chart on p. 73 of "Get Everything Done and Still Have Time to Play" Hodder 2000 (sorry, can't remember the author).

"Beyond the resistance threshold we will only do a task once the pain of not doing it becomes greater than the pain of doing it."

Structured procrastination on the other hand is a genius article and the insight in it is amazing - and hilarious. And strangely enough the top item on my to do list is "Learn Chinese"!
