Discussion Forum > In Memory of Mark Forster ...Thoughts on the Future of This Site
Ged,
I understand your concern, and to reassure you, there are a few people that are exploring these options, on Discord.
It is too technical for me to understand, but perhaps at some time, they can report here about it.

We're preparing for the case that this site goes offline. We don't know if Mark's family will keep paying to keep this site up, or for how long. I wouldn't want to ask it of them.
Parts of the site have been archived on the Wayback Machine, and I exported a JSON dump of the blog and forums here: http://github.com/andreasmaurer/markforster.net-content-export
This is just the text content in a format that can be used to convert it into other formats, for example Jacob created markdown files (http://github.com/jpeoples/markforster.net-obsidian-vault) from it that can be imported into Obsidian (http://obsidian.md/), as well as an HTML export (http://jpeoples.github.io/markforster.net-archive-builder/). I am also working on a web archive, but I haven't had as much time to work on it as I'd like: https://mark-forster-archive.github.io/
All things considered, I'd say we've already ensured that most of the public content of this site will be preserved. Although I will of course respect the wishes of Mark's family and take the archive down if that should be their preference.
Regarding having a place for future discussion, while there is the possibility of using Discord for it, I'd prefer to have a more public place for it. Ben Vallack has offered on Discord to host a new forum on his platform and possibly even import the old discussion threads there so they can be continued.

Unfortunately, this site added the closing bracket to the urls I put in brackets, you'll have to remove that for the links to work.

Hi everyone, it’s Mark’s daughter, Anna. We’ll continue covering the costs to keep the site running for at least the next few months, though it’s unlikely we’ll be able to do so indefinitely. I’d hate for anyone to lose everything here, and I know my dad would have wanted the community to continue for as long as possible. I’ll likely be in touch again soon to get your thoughts on what should happen with the site in the longer term. In the meantime, thank you all so much for your kind messages, they’ve been a great comfort to me and my family.

like all here I am saddened to hear the news that Mark Forster has passed away. His work on time management has been such an inspiration and help to so many of us over the years, and this site has been a brilliant resource for sharing his ideas and methods. A truly original thinker and wise soul
Does anyone know what might happen to the site now? It would be a real shame to lose such a valuable collection of Mark's writing and discussions.
I’d love to hear any thoughts on whether it might be possible to keep the site going ... whether through an archive, a community effort, or some other way to preserve his legacy. I suppose keeping this current site in operation as is (a possible donation button for hosting?) might be one option
Mark’s insights and generosity have helped countless people. It would be wonderful if we could find a way to make sure his work continues to help others in the future as well as a place to discuss the various approaches Mark has given us this past 20 years. ....
Of course, any thoughts about the site’s future would need to be in full respect of Mark’s family and whatever wishes they may have. I hope they are coping as best as possible during what must be a very difficult time and that if the community can help preserve Mark’s work in any way it could be done with their blessing
This post is really just a conversation starter... I look forward to hearing other's thoughts
all best G
