The basic principle is that whenever the preselect list gets irrelevant you can re-prioritise it. You can do this either by reprioritising the entire list from the beginning or alternatively by selecting back from the task you are currently on.
There are all sorts of reasons why the list might become irrelevant. The most common are that you have taken a long break from it or that some new urgent work has arrived.
Be careful though not to add new items just in order to avoid doing a particular task.
