Discussion Forum > DWM.xls - New Version 1.10
If anyone out there, besides myself, is still using DWM.xls, I strongly encourage you to look at combining Dropbox with it.
I know I am late to the party. I just started using dropbox. It appears to be a very useful means of syncing files over multiple computer, mobile phones, iPads, etc.
I know I can get it to work between my home and work computers. I will be buying a new phone soon. If I can get it on my phone, it just might be a great tool for keeping track of errands too. Everything in one file that i can access everywhere!

Yes, dropbox is a good way for synching your DWM.xls across multiple PCs. I used to do that, and used Cloudfiles on my WM6.5 device to easily retrieve DWM.xls on the mobile, even though that DWM.xls is really read only on my WM6.5 device.

sabre23t's post hits a very valid point: The VBA macros in DWM.xls won't work on any mobile application I know of. Or are there any VBA-capable mobile applications now? (Microsoft's own 'cloud office', whatever the name may be, perhaps?)
moises, you might want to try to persuade Walter to adapt and publish his DWM for Google spreadsheet... :-)

I'm already working on that, and its going well.
I'm trying to keep it as similar as possible than the XLS version. Here's how it looks:

I'm not using the Excel version anymore. The web version is slower, but I'm fine with it.
I'll post a link as soon as it feels stable.

Walter,
thanks for your reply, and all the work you put into this *thumbsup*.
Wish there were some future for DWM.xls and a DIT/DWM crossover solution, though.
Regards
Alex

I like dropbox a lot, but I am finding that it wasn't such a great idea, after all, to use it with DWM.xls.
The way my life is organized right now, it makes much more sense for me to have a separate file at home and at work. Almost always, I only use my work file Monday-Friday, and I only use my home file Saturday-Sunday.
At home, I use a re-entry setting of 10 days. I don't have it be 7 days, because some weekends I might do something on a Saturday and then not get to it the next week till Sunday. And, if it's a very crazy weekend, I will make sure I get to it after work on a weekday.
At work, I want to follow strictly the precept that I need to touch an item at least once a week to keep it active.
Given these facts, I'm better off with two files.
Regarding the mobile version, it would still be nice to have one. But, I haven't bought the application to read Excel on my Blackberry and I don't plan on buying it. So, I use dropbox for many things, but not for my DWM.xls.

Hi Alex,
"Wish there were some future for DWM.xls and a DIT/DWM crossover solution, though. "
Well, for me, DWM is the system that lets me feel that I'm in control, so I'll probably keep using it (though I'll try the new SF edition).
About DIT (partial)... notice the last tasks that are painted in green? Those were created the day before. "Creation Date" is 02/03, but "Entry Date" is 03/03.
I start my day trying to close these tasks, and only then I switch to DWM2. It's optional, of course (there's a parameter to switch between DWM1/2/T (tomorrow).

<< I read that you're using Toodledo, but I guess it doesn't do all the automated functions, like auto-dismissal, or does it? >>
I'm using Toodledo's main view with all tasks sorted by due date (i.e. expiry date). Hence, all DWM expired tasks will be shown in "overdue" section at the top of the list. It doesn't automatically hide these "overdue/expired". In normal DWM processing I'll just ignore the "overdue" section. When "review expired tasks" stands out, I'll process the "overdue" section as (a) delete, (b) mark as done with "X" tag for future someday, or (c) rescue the task by doing a bit of it. I think this is almost as good as DWM.xls autodismissal. ;-)
